The Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL),
established in Beirut, Lebanon, is a unique
regional center for the comprehensive treatment
of pediatric cancer. An affiliate of St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis,
Tennessee (St. Jude), the center works in close
association with The American University of
Beirut, Medical Center (AUBMC).
The CCCL covers all costs of care beyond those
reimbursable by third party payments and total
costs when the latter are not available. The
CCCL depends on donations, and its ability to
fulfill its mission is constrained by the
availability of funds at its disposal. |

Launching the Educational Program for Sickle
Cell Disease Patients and Families |

On March 18, 2008 @ 4:00 pm, the Children’s
Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) affiliated to
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Memphis
Tennessee located at the American University of
Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) launched an
educational program for sickle cell disease
patients and families. Two years ago, CCCL
started the Sickle Cell Disease Program in
coordination with St. Jude. The program is
directed by Dr. Miguel R. Abboud, CCCL Medical
Director. The new educational program will help
build awareness among sickle cell patients and
their families. This program is coordinated by
Mrs. Randa Shahine, CCCL Nurse who is the
liaison with the International Association of
Sickle Cell Nurses and Physician Assistants (IASCNAPA). |

Dubai – Under the Patronage of Her Royal
Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of
HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice
President of UAE Prime Minister Ruler of Dubai,
the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL)
held its annual fundraising gala dinner at AL
Bustan Rotana Hotel, on Tuesday April 15, 2008
in Dubai. All the proceeds from the charity
event went to Children’s Cancer Center of
Lebanon (CCCL) to treat children with cancer. |
