CCCL’s Second Fundraising Gala Dinner in Dubai on April 15,
2008
Dubai – Under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess
Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Vice President of UAE Prime Minister Ruler of
Dubai, the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) held
its annual fundraising gala dinner at AL Bustan Rotana
Hotel, on Tuesday April 15, 2008 in Dubai. All the proceeds
from the charity event went to Children’s Cancer Center of
Lebanon (CCCL) to treat children with cancer.

Mr. Salim
Zeenni (Chairman of the CCCL Board of Trustees), Mr. Farouk
Jabr (Treasurer of the Board), Mr. Issam Makarem (Cashier of
the Board), Mrs. Nora Jomblat (Chairperson of the Gala
Committee), Mr. Gaby Tamer (Member of the Board), Mrs. Salwa
Salman (Member of the Board); in addition to, CCCL Medical
Director, Dr. Miguel Abboud, International Outreach Director
Mr. Nassib Nasr, General Manager Mr. Camille Khalife, and
Fundraising Executive Ms. Karen Khoury, in addition to the
Director of Volunteers, Mrs. Christiane Makarem; all
attended the gala. Mr. Zeenni addressed the attendees in a
speech highlighting the significant role the Children’s
Cancer Center of Lebanon is playing within the Arab region
and thanked all the CCCL benefactors for their generosity.

More than 600 guests representing prominent and high profile
society figures form the UAE as well as prominent Lebanese
and Arab figures residing in Dubai attended the charity
dinner. During the evening, which known media figure Mrs. . Joumana Bou Eid played MC to, the Chairman of the CCCL Board
delivered a speech in which he thanked all those who are
supporting the CCCL by their donations and attendance. The
event comprised an auction by Christie’s Auction House on
antiques and limited edition items, all in benefit of CCCL’s
children and renowned Arab Singer Saber Rebai concluded the
evening with a special performance.
Master of ceremony Ms. Joumana Bou Eid was the perfect host
to this successful evening. The event comprised an auction

items, all in benefit of CCCL’s children and extended
sincere appreciation to all those who made the evening a
successful one.
The pleasant evening ended with the children of the CCCL
acknowledgement and appreciation to donors and participants
in making this event a real success.

The CCCL
is a unique regional center for the comprehensive treatment
of pediatric cancer. An affiliate of St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, the center works in
close association with AUBMC.
The mission of the CCCL is to save young lives, using the
best research and treatment available, and providing the
greatest care with no cost incurred on the patients’
families. The CCCL depends on donations, and its ability to
fulfill its mission is constrained by the availability of
funds at its disposal. This project cannot survive without
significant financial backing from the community.
