He Can’t Say “Cancer”
Two years old. He can’t say “Cancer.”

But he can say “peekaboo.” And somehow, that’s enough.
Since December 26, 2023, little Karim has been facing retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer, with the same magic he brings to every room in the center. He hides his face, ducks under a table, then pops out with a giggle that turns grown-ups soft. “Peekaboo! I see you!”
Some days his eyes struggle to find the shapes and smiles around him. But his heart? It never misses. Karim’s tiny hands reach for connection the way sunlight finds a window, quiet, certain, unstoppable.
He reminds us of something brave and simple: healing isn’t only medicine. It’s the laugh that cracks the dark. It’s eye-level kindness. It’s a little boy teaching all of us that joy can still burst through the cracks.
Every peek. Every giggle. Every “I see you.”
That’s Karim’s love, showing up again and again, like light after the hiding place.
