CCCL and the Ministry of Public Health Launch National Childhood Cancer Awareness Initiative

Held under the patronage of Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, represented by Director General Dr. Weam Abou Hamdan, the launch brought together CCCL Chairman Mr. Salim Zeenni, representatives of partner hospitals, healthcare organizations, the diplomatic community, partners, and the media.

The event marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and CCCL to strengthen national cooperation on childhood cancer awareness, early diagnosis, and timely referral to specialized care. Under this partnership, the Ministry will provide national leadership, strategic direction, and institutional coordination, with technical support from CCCL.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Weam reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that no child is denied treatment for financial reasons. He emphasized the importance of public awareness, early diagnosis, and coordination across sectors in improving childhood cancer care.

Mr. Zeenni highlighted the partnership as an important step toward a more coordinated national response. He reaffirmed CCCL’s commitment, since its establishment in 2002, to providing free treatment and support to children with cancer, regardless of nationality, financial circumstances, or background, despite ongoing financial challenges.

Over the coming months, the initiative will engage families, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, municipalities, the private sector, and partners through awareness programs and activities. Together, these efforts aim to improve recognition of warning signs and encourage timely medical assessment, helping children access specialized care when they need it
